Breakfast at Tiffany’s Inspired | My Monthly Hero April Kit by Hero Arts

I fell in love with Breakfast at Tiffany’s back in high school after learning about the movie from a tv show. Since then, I’ve collected many Breakfast at Tiffany’s inspired items, watched the movie countless times, and have collected many Tiffany Blue hued possessions. Here I am telling people I don’t have a favorite color when clearly, I am drawn to anything and everything in this shade of beautiful blue 😉

A week or so ago, when I saw May Park’s card on Instagram featuring a stamp set that featured Audrey Hepburn-esque images from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, I KNEW I had to get this stamp set.

I’ve never purchased a Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Kit until this month in addition to an additional stamp set :You are Fabulous. You can find out about the Hero Arts monthly kits at the very beginning of each month where lovely designers showcase inspiration and sneak peeks. From what I’ve heard, these kits sell out pretty quickly so I pre-ordered mine asap.  Find out what the monthly kits are all about here.

In this kit, I received some really elegant and classy items:

► 6″x8″ clear stamp set

► 18 coordinating Frame Cuts dies

► 1 bottle Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal Drops (Duck Egg Blue)

► 3 ink cubes (Lavender, Light Teal, Midnight)

► 2 half sheets Onyx shimmer cardstock (5.5″ x 8.5″)

► 2 half sheets Pink shimmer cardstock (5.5″ x 8.5″)

► 2 half sheets Tiffany Blue cardstock (5.5″ x 8.5″)

► 18″ long pearl string

► Themed paper clips

I paid $34.99 for the kit and $15.99 for the You Are Fabulous stamp set. Thankfully shipping was free! My order wasn’t supposed to be released (per the website) until Friday, April 7th but I got it the day of! Secure packaging and speedy shipping! I would highly recommend checking out future sets and add-ons!

You Are Fabulous add on
This isn’t included in the kit, this was an add-on called You Are Fabulous.

For this card, I used one of the half sheets of the Tiffany Blue cardstock and a Sizzix circle die to cut out the middle. With that Tiffany Blue cardstock, I stamped images from the kit’s stamp set in the Hero Arts Light Teal ink cube and Simon Says Stamp White pigment ink. I stamped the face silhouette and a sentiment in the Midnight ink cube on some Neenah cardstock. I mounted the card panel onto a card base and used foam tape to pop up the circular piece. Finally, I used the Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal drops for the first time! I was seriously nervous I would mess this up but I’m pleased with the dimensional look I got!

You Are Fabulous Stamp Set

This was a fun card and I loved the kit! I can’t say I am wanting to jump into being a monthly subscriber, but the quality of the kit and the shipping experience I’ve had make a convincing case or a recommendation to someone else who may be interested.

Have you seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s? What do you think of this fun release?!

Oh Happy Day! | Simon Says Stamp

This card was a lot of fun to make for my mother-in-law’s birthday. I’ve been lucky to have had some wonderful weather here in the Dallas area but we haven’t done much fun things on the weekend because we’ve been catching up on unpacking and more mundane household tasks and errands. I do love scrolling through social media for inspiration (and jokingly to live vicariously through others!) and came across fabulous photos that Amy Tangerine took on a recent trip in Bermuda, specifically in front of the pink wall at the Princess Bermuda!

First I took a 4×6 panel and used one of the Hero Arts Rectangular infinity dies to be able to have a frame and inner rectangle to use for my sentiment focal point. With the frame, I used the Simon Says Stamp stamp set called Oh Happy Day to stamp the leaves in three Simon Says Stamp hybrid ink cubes. With the inner rectangle, I used a pink hued hybrid ink to ink blend with a sponge dauber. I used a slightly darker pink hued ink to stamp the flowers, to create a bit of a tone on tone effect. Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the sentiment twice using my MISTI stamping tool. I wasn’t feeling too confident in my skills to outline this whole sentiment with the Heidi Swapp Minc toner pen, so I just settled to do the lines radiating out of the sentiment. I used rose gold foil and ran it through my Minc machine.

I used an adhesive tape runner to adhere the frame to the card base. I wanted some dimension for this card so I used foam tape to pop it up. Looking back, I would have loved to have put down a second layer of foam tape. I felt like the card needed a little bit more oomph so I decided to use Pretty Pink Posh sequins in the Sparkling Mix and Pink Blush. It was definitely a fun card to make. Hope you got to create this weekend!
