Love You | Hey Love by Simon Says Stamp

Happy 2017! Hope you all are having a wonderful start so far.

I worked the last couple of days of 2016 and it was chaotic at my hospital. Matt and I didn’t have grandiose plans of ringing in NYE, but he ended the year by coming down with a bad cold and with me on the border of being sick and run down.

January 1st has been uneventful and relaxing at home since Matt is sick… gives me time to really think about what I’d love to accomplish and do in the upcoming year. It also makes me hopeful, excited, and restless to begin scheming and executing all the goals Matt and I have talked about these past few months. It’s another year we can try to meet other goals that didn’t get accomplished in 2016 and another year we can continue bettering the things that are thankfully, going right. I

I made this card for Matt as a card to show him my love as we enter another year and come what may in 2017, we will get to do it together.

I used Canson XL Watercolor paper as my card panel because I knew I wanted to do some subtle distress ink blending. I ended up using Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry to do my ink blending. I then used Hero Arts Strawberry ink for the background image stamp and I definitely used the MISTI to make sure I would get a good stamped impression. I used glittered cardstock for the sentiment dies (they are separate dies from different Simon Says Stamp releases). I wanted dimension so I die cut a layer of foam and two layers of cheapy cardstock to layer all together.

Before laying down the dimensional die cuts, I sat there and debated if I wanted to give the card panel some subtle dimension too. I ended up running the card panel through my Sizzix, using the We R Memory Keepers Next Level Dotted embossing folder. Finally, I glued down the sentiments on the card and debated again if I needed to add more embellishments, but decided against it.

loveyou

Yahoo, I feel so accomplished. I got my first 2017 card done 😉 I have to clean up my work space but I think before I do that, I want to spend some time tentatively setting up and experimenting with my Paper Tokens planner I’ve mentioned in a previous post.
